cco Free Cass County (TFCC) recently recognized The Waterford at Woodbridge, Assisted Living and Retirement Home, for implementing a tobacco-free policy in their building. Kim Cundall, Executive Director, received a certificate of appreciation for creating a healthier, safer environment for all.

“Tobacco-free policies make good business sense,” said Joan Friedman, TFCC Coordinator. “It is nice to see Cass County multi-family housing enacting polices that recognizes the benefits of tobacco-free environments.”

Tobacco Free Cass County recognizes Cass County multi-family housing for their tobacco-free policies that go above and beyond the Nebraska Clean Indoor Air Act. “There is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke,” said McKinsey Mulroy, TFCC Associate. “If someone in the building is smoking, everyone is potentially inhaling secondhand smoke due to a shared ventilation system. No one is safe from the more than 7,000 chemicals found in cigarette smoke.”

In addition, TFCC works to keep youth from starting to use tobacco, reduce access to tobacco products, and increase awareness about the dangers of secondhand smoke in Cass County. For more information about the Coalition, contact 402-593-3022.
