No Limits invites Nebraska teens to “bring on the change” and fight youth tobacco use by participating in the 2013 Kick Butts Day Youth Rally on March 19 and 20 in Lincoln.

Nebraska’s only youth-led tobacco prevention movement sponsors two-day training and a rally for teens in grades 7 to 12. Kick Butts Day is a global day of activism sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids that empowers youths to stand out, speak up and seize control against big tobacco at more than 1,000 events around the world. Nebraska’s event is one of the largest events nationwide.

On March 20, No Limits youth activists will meet one-on-one with state lawmakers to discuss key tobacco issues affecting youth. The event wraps up with a march through downtown Lincoln and a rally on the steps of the state Capitol.

"An estimated 15 percent of Nebraska high school students are smokers, and every year, another 2,000 Nebraska teens become daily tobacco users,” said Jessi Huenink, No Limits project coordinator. “Kick Butts Day is an opportunity for No Limits youth activists to speak directly to their lawmakers about tobacco issues.”

Participation in Kick Butts Day is free, including transportation and lodging for youth living outside the Lincoln area. Registration is required for all youths, and because space is limited, those needing transportation and lodging must submit an application by Feb. 20.

More information and an application form are available at NoLimitsNebraska.com, or contact Huenink at 866-394-8336 or jessi@nolimitsnebraska.com.
